TIP aims to improve ways of linking indigenous peoples interested in pursuing self-determined development. It facilitates them in taking a leadership role in agrobiodiversity dialogues at the policy and academic research levels. TIP advocates and strengthens this voice of indigenous groups in the popular narrative by offering them platforms like food festivals (Indigenous Terra Madre 2015, Shillong), excursions and exchange programs for the youth, thus amplifying the growing awareness that the wellbeing of future generations can be sustained and enhanced by nurturing the traditional biological and cultural knowledge systems of indigenous communities. It collaborates with leaders and communities in order to identify the best way to serve them, respecting their life styles and sharing their fundamental knowledge with other actors in the global framework of agrobiodiversity and food sovereignty.
